Microwave Sweet Potato Chips
These delicious homemade (sweet) potato chips are quickly made in the microwave. Yep - the microwave! Crispy and delicious side to that veggie burger or sandwich.
Course: Side Dishes
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 Min
Cook Time: 5 Min
Total Time: 10 Min
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 1 medium sweet potato or yam
- olive oil spray optional
- dry herb blend I like braggs
- salt to taste
Directions
- Slice sweet potato into very thin chips. (A mandolin slicer makes this a breeze!)
- Place chips on a plate - filling up the surface but not overlapping the chips. You may need to do several rounds to make all your chips.
- For some added fat (and crispiness) spray the top surface of the chips with some oil. NOTE: spraying with oil is optional. I generally spray mine because I don't mind a bit of fat and I like that my herb blend adheres to the chips better.
- Add seasonings. (The seasoning possibilities are endless!)
- Place in microwave for 2 minutes. Check chips & continue to microwave for 1 minutes time blocks checking between each session. You are going for crispy golden chips.
- After the chips are golden place them on a cooling rack to allow the excess moisture to dissipate.
- Enjoy!
- NOTES
- This recipe can be used with potatoes as well. And maybe even other veggies likes beets & carrots...
