Project: Food Budget (Wk8) Nick's Family

Veggie Meal-Maker is participating with about 30 other blogs in Project: Food Budget. Follow along as we share food goals, food budgets, and meal-planning strategies. Week 8 updates below:
GOAL: $65
ACTUAL: $62.87 Plus $5 at the Farmers Market
SIZE OF FAMILY: 3 - Nick & Shae (parents) and Paisley (14 months)
FOOD GOALS: This weeks number 1 food goal was to stay within our budget. Shae is officially a stay at home mommy (more on this here) and gets her last check the end of this month so we are down to a skinnier budget. A second necessity this week was getting food I could blend up since my mouth is healing from getting my wisdom teeth ripped out.
MENU:
Blended Smoothies, Soups & Mashed Potatoes with some pudding for dessert.

{Ingredients for My Blended Lunch}
PROUDEST SHOPPING MOMENT:
(Almost) meeting our budget! (Over by $2.87...I guess this will have to come from my allowance)
BIGGEST SPLURGE/INDULGENCE:
Dark Chocolate Pudding & Graham Cracker Crusts and a Green Smoothie at the Farmers Market...

{My Indulgent Pedal Powered Green Smoothie}
SUMMARY OF WEEK
This week was lots of getting creative with the blender...

{Yesterday's Lunch - Salsa Verde Soup}
CONCLUSION(S)
I am confident that we can make the transition to a lower food budget (From $100 per week to $65) without to much trouble. As a side note blender food would make a great diet plan. (I am really looking forward to eating SOLIDS again!)

tips that help me: one or two standard/easy/cheap meals on the menu (pasta, mujadara, rice and beans). if i'm splurging on an ingredient, i build the entire week around it. i also stock up when things are on sale.
