Asian Wontons
Description
This little appetizer / side is awesome! They are fun, easy to make and go great with any Asian dish like stir-fry or fried rice. Growing up we would deep fry these but they also turn out great baked or shallow pan fried. So get out your folding fingers and get wrapping!
Ingredients
- 1 pk wonton wrappers
- 2 c vegemeat
- 4 green onions, minced
- 1 t sesame oil
- 1 T soy sauce or braggs
- 1 t fresh ginger, grated (optional)
- water for sealing
Instructions
1. Mix vegemeat, green onions, sesame oil, soy sauce and ginger in a medium bowl.
2. Fill wrappers with approximately 1 tbsp of the filling in the middle of the wonton wrapper.
3. Fold wrappers into a triangle sealing the edge with a wet finger. Re-wet your finger to seal and join the two base corners together.
4. Bake: Spray or brush folded wontons with oil and bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 min or until golden brown.
Fry: In a large pan heat oil to 350 degrees. Slowly drop in wontons and fry until golden brown. Remove and place on a plate lined with a paper towel.
5. Serve with a sweet and sour sauce for dipping.
