Apple Muesli
Description
Muesli (mju:zli) is a traditional breakfast cereal made from uncooked oats, fruit and nuts. It was developed by a Swiss physician named Maximilian Bircher-Benner in the 1900’s. Max made this healthy mix for his patients at his hospital. This recipe is one of many versions of the original mixture. Thanks, Max!
Ingredients
- 3 c rolled oats
- 3 c apple juice
- 1 banana
- 1 apple - shredded
- 1⁄4 c mixed nuts
- 1 T brown sugar
- ds cinnamon
Instructions
1. Blend juice and banana in a blender.
2. Gently stir in blended mixture with oats, shredded apple, nuts, sugar and spice.
3. Refrigerate over night. Serve hot or cold.
Notes
Many variations of Muesli can be made by simply experimenting with different juices, fruits, nuts, currants. Use your imagination!
