Coming from the mid-west with your typical leaves-change-colors and jackets-are-necessary signs of autumn, something feels a little “off” as we're nearing the end of our first fall in Florida. Temperatures reach 90 as winter nears. Dead leaves clutter our yard, though I can't imagine their origin as all trees are still green. Palm trees taunt hints of summer vacation, even as I think about holiday cleaning before family visits for Christmas.

That's not to say we haven't experienced fall. From candles named “Autumn Harvest” to seasonal drinks like apple cider and a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter turning even biscuits into a seasonal treat, the season has made its appearance wherever possible.
