How do I import / add recipes from around the web?
To add a recipe, click on the Add Recipe button in your recipe book, which will pull up a page with a few different options for adding new recipes:
Use the bookmarklet while surfing the web
1. Drag this link, Save Recipe (VMM) to your browser’s bookmark toolbar. If you are using Internet Explorer, right click the link and select “Add to Favorites…” and then save it to your Favorites/Favorites Bar. If the link above doesn’t work, you can also find the bookmarklet when adding a new recipe to Veggie Meal-Maker.
2. The next time you find a recipe on the web that you want to save to your Plan to Eat recipe book, click this bookmark in your browser toolbar and it will display an import window with the recipe automatically imported. If we are unable to automatically import the recipe you can easily copy-and-paste from the recipe to the import window.
3. When you’re ready to save the recipe to your Veggie Meal-Maker recipe book, click the “Save to my recipe book” button.
Search the Web
The fastest way to add a new recipe is to use the Search the Web feature. Search for ingredients, courses, cuisines, servings, etc. to find recipes that you want to try.
Use the 'site:' function to limit your search. For example, searching for “site:allrecipes.com corn bread” will only search allrecipes.com for 'Corn Bread'. To exclude allrecipes.com from your search results, use a minus sign (-) in front, like this: -site:allrecipes.com corn bread.
After you click the Search the Web button to bring up the results, click on the URL to open the full recipe in a new window or Import Recipe to see the full recipe and make any necessary changes. Be sure to add the course, cuisine, grocery categories and tags for easy searching later.
Once complete, click the Save Recipe button and the recipe will be added to your personal Recipe Book.
Copy & Paste the recipe's URL or web address
You can also copy and paste a url for a recipe in the search box and we'll import that specific recipe. We can currently import recipes from over 100 websites.
