Project: Food Budget (Wk6) Nick's Family

Welcome back to week 6 of Project: Food Budget!
Veggie Meal-Maker is participating, along with roughly 30 other blogs, in a weekly challenge called Project: Food Budget. Each Thursday we will feature a different family (Nick, Trina or Krystle) sharing our food goals, our food budgets and an update on our meal-planning week. The goal is to give you a window into how different families manage their weekly meals. Your budget may be much higher or lower than ours, but you're sure to gain some insight as you follow along with Project: Food Budget!
GOAL: $100.00
ACTUAL: $69.69
SIZE OF FAMILY: Nick (Dad), Shae (Mom) & Paisley (15months)
FOOD GOALS: Cold cereal & fruit for easy breakfast, jarred baby food for picky Paisely, fresh fruit as snacks for Nick and a handful of new recipes for dinner.

PROUDEST SHOPPING MOMENT: My wife found a random coupon on the floor of the store that saved us $1 off of almond milk!
BIGGEST SPLURGE/INDULGENCE: Jars of baby food. We generally make baby food but our little gal has been rather picky lately and seems to enjoy the jarred variety...
SUMMARY OF WEEK: Before we went shopping I was anticipating blowing our budget. Often times when I am testing new recipes its easy to go over. In addition to all the food for the recipes there is the accompaniments that make the pictures look nice like fancy breads or other random sides. It adds up. Plus we were buying baby food for Paisley and those stupid little jars are pricey. So when we came in well under our budget I was delighted!
CONCLUSION: Good week for the food fund and some tasty new recipes! Win : win!

more recipes
Hi,
Love the idea behind veggie meal maker. love that it will prepare a shopping list as well.
Will you be adding more recipes? The Kind Diet has some great recipes. Any juicing recipes? (my families personal favorite juice right now is beets, carrots, green apple, ginger, and a 1/4 lemon) Delicious.
Thanks.
Brenda
