How it all started…
Veggie Meal-Maker started out of our need. As a newly married couple, we labored to plan and organize our meals and vegetarian lifestyle. Sundays were spent creating the week’s menu, searching for new recipes and shopping.
As time passed, our enthusiasm diminished and meal-planning quickly became a chore. Planning happened at each meal rather than the week before, shopping trips became more impulsive and the meals dwindled to dissatisfying and unhealthy.
While listening to the radio we heard of a meal planning service that offered menus, shopping lists and easy recipes. After checking out the site and seeing that it did not offer vegetarian or vegan options, we found ourselves wanting this type of service personalized to our needs. We searched the Web and found no suitable service. Then we thought, “why not make our own?”
This is the origin of VeggieMealMaker.com. The idea budded as an opportunity to make our lives easier, but quickly blossomed into an opportunity to meet others’ needs including your’s. We have labored to make a useful, informative and affordable site that helps you and your family save time, save money and eat healthy!
Nick’s passions are: healthy veggie living, permaculture, building things with his hands and the outdoors. When not mountain biking, climbing or exploring new veggie foods he teaches Outdoor Education to 5-8th grade students every Spring & Fall. In the summers he directs an organic community garden in the Northwest.

Our Food Philosophy
We believe that eating a diet that primarily consists of plant based whole foods will benefit our bodies, our planet and the millions of animals senselessly & needlessly killed every year. We don’t claim to have all the answers but we know that everyone should eat more veggies!
Our Business Philosophy
We believe in small family run businesses. We believe in offering a quality product at a fair price. We believe in giving our customers value. We personally use our service and love it!
After spending time abroad (Nick in India & Shae in Palau) our paradigm about personal responsibility towards poverty became apparent. We are excited and privileged to give 10% of our profits to organizations that provide food and water to the truly destitute of our world. We challenge you to get involved in some way!
More of our Simple & Intentional Journey
For years we have dreamed of a simple intentional life…to free up our resources for what really matters. In 2011 we purchased and began remodeling a vintage Airstream travel trailer with the intention of living as semi-nomadic travelers exploring new places and visiting loved ones. The summer of 2012 we sold 95% off our possessions and began living full-time in the Land Yacht. Our goal is to lead a simple and intentional life, with time for family, the ability to pursue our passions and the freedom to serve God. You can follow our journey on our family blog at: Livin’ Lightly.
